Bahrain

With 6 hours to kill at Bahrain airport before our flight to Sri Lanka we investigated the possibility of getting a visa and entering the capital city Manama, for about £10 you can get an on the spot visa – so we did, withdrew some local currency (Bahraini dinar) and caught a taxi to The Al Fateh Grand Mosque. Always worth checking visa requirements when you have a long layover, I once spent 10 hours in Beijing airport not knowing I could have got a visa and explored the city instead!
