Puno, The Uros Islands & Lake Titicaca

A Bus ride through stunning unspoilt scenery to the sacred lake. A day trip out to the Uros islands – too touristy (maybe with a private guide to take you out to the little visited communities there it might be more worthwhile though?) but we were dumped on a little island, and left to wander past the Islanders stalls selling souvenirs with nothing else to do. If there are still Uros people who are self sufficient, existing without the boatloads of tourists then that would be interesting to visit. However I only stayed a couple of nights in Puno, I’d always read that Lake Titicaca was prettier from the Bolivian side – and that country wasn’t far away.

  1. Loving the blog Ben, weathers miserable back here in blighty, so I’ve passed a pleasant half hour catching up with your travels instead of venturing out in the rain! Thanks for taking the time to share your superb images.
