After Montenegro came Albania, the final stop on this Balkan tour. From the welcoming city of Shkodra we travelled north into “The Accursed Mountains”. These mountains which are part of The Dinaric Alps and their fantastic name comes from an ancient fairy tale; Two brothers went hunting and found a beautiful fairy. Asked which one she preferred, she answered: one for his bravery, the other for his good looks. The brave brother killed the handsome one and took the fairy home to their mother, who was so angry she cursed the fairy and the mountains forever.
We completed the trip with 2 nights in Tirana, although communism hasn’t left much beauty to photograph, it is still a pleasant place to stay, although maybe not somewhere worth going out of your way to visit.
