From Beijing we caught the bullet train south to the Imperial City of Xian. We had considered flying direct to Guilin, but I’m glad we took the chance to see this famous archaeological find. Only discovered in 1974 by farmers digging for a water well, these warriors have become world famous, and are a huge draw for tourism to the area. Despite the hordes of tourists, (mainly domestic) there is enough space to get a good view of the Terracotta Warriors, and walk around the huge pit, which is still an active excavation site.
