The Lijiang River, Guilin, China

From Xian we caught a flight south to Guilin, and we stayed in the smaller town of Xingping, not far from Yangshuo. Guilin was a part of the world I’d been longing to explore for a long time. The stunning landscape of karst hills is totally unique, I’ve never seen anywhere in the world quite like it. My only frustrations were with the foggy, hazy light, which rarely provided the clarity around dawn and dusk I would have desired, however this is a common complaint from photographers shooting around Guilin, my uncle waited 10 days here for the right light in 1998, and had to give up in the end!
